Digital Mammography
- What Is It?

Information Alert

MRI

Current Alert: If you have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, consider getting a MRI of both breasts before you do any treatment! A MRI would not be appropriate for:

  • Patients with pacemakers
  • Claustrophobic Patients
  • Some Patients that may be physically uncomfortable or incapable of being in a MRI

When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer there is a 25% chance there is a secondary site of breast cancer that is not detectable using mammography. Dr Brem established a new protocol that requires all newly diagnosed breast cancer patients have a MRI of both breasts before any treatments or surgeries. If a secondary site is discovered a MRI biopsy is performed. This protocol reduces mastectomies when secondary sites are benign and increases overall success when secondary cancerous sites are discovered. Talk to your doctor about a MRI prior to surgery for breast cancer.

The Information Alert Network is a network of emails and word of mouth communication for the purpose of “getting the word out” regarding the latest protocol or advice in the area of breast health. This a crucial part of our grassroots organization. By accepting emails and forwarding them to your address book, and sharing the latest information at every opportunity, you become the all important contact between life saving information and people who are dear to you.
